Local SEO software is any tool that helps a business show up in Google Maps and local search results. It covers four jobs: managing the Google Business Profile, keeping citations and listings accurate, collecting and answering reviews, and tracking local rankings. Most tools do one or two of those jobs well. A few try to do all four.
We opened every tool below in a browser on 4 October 2026 and wrote down only the prices each company publishes on its own site. Where a company doesn't publish a price, we say so. Prices run from $1 a month per location to $599 a month, so the right pick depends on which of the four jobs you need done.
This list is for two readers: a local business owner picking one tool, and an agency picking a stack for many clients. There is a section for each.

1. Distribb: local SEO on autopilot, content and links included
We build Distribb, so take the ranking with that in mind. We put it first because it is the only tool on this list that does the work instead of reporting on it. Every other product here tells you where you rank or what is wrong with a listing. Distribb runs SEO entirely on autopilot: you connect the site and the Google Business Profile once, and it does the keyword research, writes and publishes the articles, builds backlinks, and works on your visibility in AI search on its own.
For a local business that means four things happen every week without you opening a dashboard:
- Google Business Profile management: Google posts go out on a schedule you set once, live reviews are pulled in, a public reply is drafted for every review, and profile analytics (views, review count, rating) sit in one place.
- Local content: keyword research runs against your region, and the articles name the areas you serve and the jobs you do there. It publishes to WordPress, Webflow and Shopify.
- Backlinks: your site earns contextual links from real businesses through Distribb's backlink exchange, with no cold outreach.
- AI-search visibility: Distribb scans ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI answers from your own city, so you see what a nearby customer sees when they ask for a recommendation.
A lot of agencies white-label Distribb and resell the output to local clients at agency prices. A local business can go straight to the source and pay the platform price.
- Citations: not included. Distribb does not push your name, address and phone number to directories.
- Local rank grid: not included. Rankings come from your Google Search Console data, not from a geo-grid scan.
- Pro, $97 a month: Google Business Profile posts and review replies, automatic keyword research, 30 articles a month, backlinks and AI-search visibility, all running unattended.
- Accelerator, $495 a month: everything in Pro, 90 articles a month, and a human reviewing every piece.
- Weakness: Distribb is a platform. It isn't a bespoke creative agency, and it doesn't build citations or send review request campaigns. Pair it with a citation tool from this list if your listings are a mess.
- Best for: local businesses and agencies that want the profile, the content and the links handled every month without hiring anyone.
Multiple locations work as one project per branch, so each branch gets its own keywords, content and profile connection. You can see what Distribb runs for local businesses on the local page.
2. BrightLocal: the all-round audit and reporting platform
BrightLocal is the tool most local SEO agencies start with. It sells three plans called Track, Manage and Grow. Track covers rank tracking and audits, Manage adds listings, and Grow adds reputation tools.
On the Track plan you can monitor local rankings for up to 100 keywords and four competitors, and see up to five keywords on a geo-grid map. Reports can be white-labeled, which is why agencies like it.
- GBP management: audits the profile and pulls in Google Business Profile Insights. It benchmarks you against competitors.
- Citations: tracks citation accuracy and gaps. Building and cleanup run through its Citation Builder service.
- Reviews: review monitoring and generation, on the Grow plan.
- Local rank grid: yes, called Local Search Grid.
- Price: for one location, Track is $41 a month, Manage is $54 and Grow is $65, billed monthly. Annual billing brings that to $31, $40 and $49. Two to five locations cost $62 to $87 a month. There is a 14-day free trial.
- Weakness: it reports and audits. Someone still has to write the posts, answer the reviews and fix what the audit finds.
- Best for: agencies and consultants who need white-label local reports for many clients.
3. Whitespark: the citation specialist

Whitespark made its name with the Local Citation Finder, and citations are still what it does best. It sells each tool on its own, so you only pay for the job you need.
Its Local Platform manages Google Business Profiles for $1 a month per location. It blocks unwanted profile updates and edits locations in bulk, which matters once you manage more than a handful.
- GBP management: Local Platform, $1 a month per location.
- Citations: Local Citation Finder runs $33 to $149 a month. The done-for-you listings service is a one-time fee of $20 to $999.
- Reviews: Reputation Builder, $79 a month per location.
- Local rank grid: Local Ranking Grids from $10 a month, tracking up to 225 geographic points. The separate Local Rank Tracker runs $14 to $200 a month.
- Price: from $1 a month per location, but every tool is a separate subscription.
- Weakness: the bill adds up fast if you need all four jobs, and there is no content or link building.
- Best for: businesses with messy or missing citations, and agencies that want a one-time cleanup.
4. Semrush Local: profile management run by an AI agent
Semrush Local is a separate toolkit from the main Semrush SEO plans, priced per location. The Base plan hands your Google Business Profile to an AI agent that updates info and photos, writes and publishes posts, and replies to reviews.
The Pro plan adds listing management across directories like Facebook and Bing, review generation, and bulk editing for multi-location accounts. Both plans include the Map Rank Tracker, which runs on credits: 375 on Base and 1,225 on Pro.
- GBP management: yes, automated by an AI agent on both plans.
- Citations: listing management, on the Pro plan only.
- Reviews: auto-replies on Base. Review generation and management on Pro.
- Local rank grid: yes, Map Rank Tracker, limited by credits.
- Price: Base is $30 a month per location and Pro is $60 a month per location. The Business tier is a sales call.
- Weakness: the per-location price doubles when you need listings, and the wider Semrush SEO toolkit is a separate subscription.
- Best for: teams already paying for Semrush that want local in the same login.
5. Moz Local: cheap listing sync

Moz Local is the low-cost way to get a business listed and keep it consistent. It pushes your details to more than 90 listing directories and alerts you to new reviews.
All three plans include Local Grid for map pack rankings. Replying to reviews from inside the tool starts on the Preferred plan.
- GBP management: listing and directory management, not profile posting on autopilot.
- Citations: yes, 90+ listing directories.
- Reviews: monitoring on Lite. Review responding and sentiment analysis from Preferred.
- Local rank grid: yes, Local Grid.
- Price: Lite is $20 a month, Preferred is $30 and Elite is $40. Billed yearly they are $16, $24 and $33. The Listings AI add-on is $14 a month and Reviews AI is $10 a month.
- Weakness: the AI features cost extra on the two cheaper plans, and it does not create content.
- Best for: single-location businesses that want accurate listings for the lowest monthly price.
6. Local Falcon: the geo-grid rank tracker
Local Falcon does one job. It scans a grid of points around your business and shows where you rank in the map pack at each one. A single city-wide ranking hides the fact that you can be first on your own street and invisible two miles away. The grid shows that.
It now tracks AI visibility as well, across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Pricing is by credit. One credit is one map pin, so a 5x5 scan uses 25 credits.
- GBP management: no.
- Citations: it can find relevant citations, but it doesn't build or sync them.
- Reviews: no.
- Local rank grid: yes, this is the product.
- Price: credit packages cost $24.99, $49.99, $99.99 and $199.99 a month, for 7,500 to 63,150 credits. You get 100 free credits when you sign up, with no card.
- Weakness: it measures and nothing else. Monthly credits expire at the end of the month, and large grids on many keywords use them quickly.
- Best for: anyone who wants proof of where they rank across a service area, and agencies that sell on before-and-after maps.
7. Synup: all four jobs in one per-location plan
Synup bundles listings, reviews, rank tracking and publishing into one plan, and every plan includes every feature. The tiers only change how many locations you manage.
An AI agent writes and publishes posts, offers and hours changes, and drafts review responses. It also scores each location for visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
- GBP management: yes, posts and profile changes published by the agent.
- Citations: yes, details pushed to its publisher network and kept in sync.
- Reviews: monitoring, responses and review request campaigns.
- Local rank grid: yes, Local Rank Grid.
- Price: Solo is $49 a month for one location. Premium is $299 a month for up to 10 locations, Pro is $499 for up to 25, and Scale is $899 for up to 50. There is a free trial.
- Weakness: the jump from one location to two is $49 to $299, white labeling starts at Premium, and agent work is metered by credits.
- Best for: agencies and multi-location businesses with five or more locations.
8. Yext: listings for enterprise brands

Yext is the enterprise choice. It stores your verified business data in one place and distributes it to a large publisher network. Its site says it is trusted by brands managing more than 9 million locations.
In 2026 it sells itself as an agentic marketing platform: agents that create pages, social content and review responses from that same data.
- GBP management: yes, as part of listings.
- Citations: yes, this is its core product.
- Reviews: yes, including review responses.
- Local rank grid: visibility reporting down to individual locations.
- Price: no public price. Yext sells through a sales call.
- Weakness: no published pricing, and it is built for brands with hundreds of locations. A single shop will not get value from it.
- Best for: franchises and national brands with a marketing team and a large location count.
9. Birdeye: reviews and reputation for multi-location brands

Birdeye started as a review platform and reviews are still its strongest part. It now also covers listings, social posting, AI search, a chatbot and surveys.
Its pricing page has no numbers on it. You fill in a form with your number of locations and Birdeye sends a quote. The page says you pay only for what you deploy at your locations.
- GBP management: yes, through listings and reviews.
- Citations: yes, listings management.
- Reviews: yes, this is its core product.
- Local rank grid: not the focus.
- Price: no public price. Quote only.
- Weakness: you can't compare cost before talking to sales, and it is aimed at brands with many locations.
- Best for: healthcare groups, dealerships and other multi-location brands where reviews drive bookings.
10. Podium: reviews plus customer messaging

Podium is a lead conversion and messaging platform that also handles reviews. It asks customers for reviews by text, covers Google, Facebook and industry review sites, and writes AI responses.
The rest of the product is about answering leads: a website chat widget, text marketing, call summaries and payments. It isn't an SEO tool in the narrow sense, but more and better reviews are a strong local ranking signal.
- GBP management: Google reviews only.
- Citations: no.
- Reviews: yes, with AI responses and a reviews leaderboard.
- Local rank grid: no.
- Price: Core is $399 a month and Pro is $599 a month. Signature is custom pricing.
- Weakness: the most expensive published price on this list, with no citations and no rank tracking.
- Best for: home services, auto and retail businesses that also want texting and lead follow-up in the same tool.
What local SEO software should do
Before you compare prices, check a tool against the four jobs. Very few do all of them.
1. Manage the Google Business Profile
The profile decides most of what happens in the map pack. Good Google Business Profile management software keeps hours and categories correct, publishes Google posts on a schedule, and blocks edits you didn't make.
2. Build and fix citations
A citation is a mention of your name, address and phone number on a directory. They need to match everywhere. This is mostly a one-time cleanup followed by light monitoring, so a one-off service can be cheaper than a subscription.
3. Collect and answer reviews
Review count, rating and reply rate all affect who calls you. The tool should pull reviews in, help you answer each one, and ideally ask happy customers for more.
4. Track local rankings
Local rankings change street by street. A geo-grid tracker shows where you appear at each point across your service area. A normal rank tracker gives you one number for the whole city, which tells you much less.
The fifth job most tools skip: content and links
Audits and grids tell you where you stand. They don't move you. What moves a local site is pages about the services and areas you cover, and links from other real sites. That is the work covered in our guides to keyword research for local SEO and to local SEO for trades like electricians. Of the ten tools here, only Distribb writes the content and builds the links for you.
Local SEO tools by job
If you only need one job done, pick by job and ignore the overall ranking.
- Doing the work for you (profile posts, review replies, content, links): Distribb.
- Google Business Profile management software: Distribb for posts and review replies, Semrush Local and Synup for an agent that edits the profile, Whitespark for protection against unwanted edits at $1 a month per location.
- Citations and listings: Whitespark for a one-time cleanup, Moz Local for cheap ongoing sync, Yext for enterprise.
- Reviews: Birdeye and Podium for request campaigns by text, Whitespark Reputation Builder for one location.
- Local rank grid: Local Falcon first. BrightLocal if you also want audits and white-label reports.
- One local SEO platform for many locations: Synup with published prices, Yext or Birdeye if you are an enterprise.
A common stack for a single business is one tool that does the work and one that measures it. Distribb at $97 a month plus Local Falcon at $24.99 a month covers the profile, content, links and a geo-grid for about $122 a month.
Free local SEO tools to set up first
Paid software sits on top of free tools. Set these up before you pay for anything.
- Google Business Profile: claim it, verify it, pick the right primary category, and fill in every field.
- Google Search Console: shows the searches your site appears for and which pages get clicks.
- Bing Places for Business: the same kind of free listing on Microsoft's search engine.
- Apple Business Connect: controls how you appear in Apple Maps.
Yes, you can do local SEO yourself with only these four. It takes a few hours a week, every week. Software is for the point where those hours stop happening.
Local SEO software for agencies
An agency needs three things a single business doesn't: white-label output, pricing that still works at 20 or 50 locations, and less manual work per client.
- White-label reporting: BrightLocal has white-label reports on its platform. Synup includes white labeling from the Premium plan at $299 a month.
- Per-location cost at scale: Synup works out to $29.90 per location at 10 locations and $17.98 at 50. Semrush Local stays at $30 or $60 per location. Whitespark's Local Platform is $1 per location for profile management alone.
- Fulfilment: this is where most agency margin goes. Reports are cheap. Writing the posts, the review replies and the location content for every client is the expensive part.
That last point is why agencies resell Distribb. One project per client location runs the posts, review replies, content and links, and the agency keeps the client relationship. If you would rather buy a finished service than run software, we compared the providers in our guide to white label local SEO services.
How we checked these tools
Every tool was opened in a browser on 4 October 2026. Prices and plan limits come from each company's own pricing page on that date. We did not use review sites or affiliate lists for prices. Three companies (Yext, Birdeye, and Podium's top tier) don't publish a price, and we say so instead of guessing.
We left out tools we couldn't verify and tools that only cover one narrow feature. We also left out general SEO suites that have no local product.
Local SEO software FAQ
What is local SEO software?
Local SEO software is a tool that helps a business rank in Google Maps and local search. It usually covers some mix of Google Business Profile management, citations, reviews and local rank tracking.
What is the best local SEO software?
It depends on the job. Distribb is the best pick if you want the work done for you, because it runs profile posts, review replies, local content and backlinks on autopilot from $97 a month. Local Falcon is the best geo-grid tracker, Whitespark is the best for citations, and Synup is the best all-in-one for many locations.
What are the best local SEO tools for a small business?
Start with the free ones: Google Business Profile, Google Search Console, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect. Then add one paid tool for the job you keep skipping. For most small businesses that is posting, review replies and content, which Distribb handles. Moz Local at $20 a month is the cheapest way to fix listings.
What is a local SEO platform?
A local SEO platform is software that combines several local jobs in one login, instead of one tool per job. Synup, Semrush Local, BrightLocal, Yext and Birdeye are platforms in that sense. Distribb is a platform that also covers content and link building.
What is the best local SEO software for agencies?
BrightLocal for white-label audits and reports, Synup for per-location pricing with white labeling from $299 a month, and Distribb for fulfilment, since it does the posting, replies, content and links for each client location without adding staff.
What is Google Business Profile management software?
It is software that edits and maintains a Google Business Profile for you: hours, categories, photos, Google posts and review replies. Distribb, Semrush Local, Synup and Whitespark's Local Platform all do this, at prices from $1 to $97 a month.
How much does local SEO software cost?
Published prices on this list run from $1 a month per location (Whitespark Local Platform) to $599 a month (Podium Pro). Most single-location plans sit between $20 and $100 a month. Software is far cheaper than a retainer, as our breakdown of how much SEO costs shows.
Does local SEO software help with AI search?
Some of it does. Distribb scans AI answers from your own city, Local Falcon tracks AI visibility on its grid, and Synup scores each location across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. We cover the category in our guide to AI visibility tools.
Which one to pick
If your listings are wrong, fix them once with Whitespark or Moz Local. If you need to see where you rank across your service area, use Local Falcon. If you run fifty locations, look at Synup first because it publishes its prices.
If the real problem is that nobody has time to post, reply and publish every week, pick the tool that does it for you. That applies to any local business, from a plumber to a clinic. Our guide to local SEO for medical practices shows what that weekly work looks like in one industry. Distribb runs it from $97 a month.
