Let Distribb pick a category, always use one, or use the WordPress default.

Each WordPress connection has a category rule. One article can also have its own category.

## Steps

1. Open **Integrations** and find your WordPress row.
2. Choose **Category**. The **WordPress Category** dialog opens.
3. Pick one:
   - **Auto (recommended)**: Distribb picks the best fit from your existing categories.
   - **Always use one category**: choose it under **Pick a category**.
   - **WordPress default**: WordPress applies its own default category.
4. If the list looks old, choose **Refresh list**. Then choose **Save**.

## For one article

Open the article. In the **Category** field, pick a category or **No category**. The category must already exist in WordPress. An article's own category wins over the rule above.

## Check it works

Publish or sync the article, then open it in WordPress and look at its categories.

## Good to know

- Distribb sends one category per post. Older posts can still carry a second category added earlier in WordPress.
- If your permalinks include the category, changing it changes the post URL. Pick a rule before your first articles go out.
- Clinics and [local businesses](/local) often keep one blog category. Content comes from the [AI content writer](/ai-content-writer).
