# Cancel or pause your subscription

How to cancel, what happens to your articles, and the pause option.

You can cancel at any time from Settings. On an active paid plan you can also pause for 1 to 3 months.

## Steps

1. Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose **Settings**.
2. In **Plan and billing**, choose **Cancel subscription**.
3. Pick the reason that fits. Depending on your answer, Distribb may offer a discount, a call, or a pause.
4. To pause, choose the number of months and **Pause my subscription**.
5. To cancel, go on to the last step and choose **Confirm Cancellation**.

## Check it works

The app shows that your Distribb plan is not active, with **Restart my plan**. No next payment shows in **Manage subscription**.

## Good to know

- Cancelling is immediate. Articles stop publishing and projects pause. Your account and your articles stay, so you can come back.
- Cancelling within 14 days of your first payment? You can also get that payment back in full: see [Ask for a refund](/help/billing/refunds). Renewals are not refunded.
- Articles already on your site stay there. They are yours.
- Pausing is offered on active paid plans, not during the free trial. During the trial, cancelling costs nothing.
